Photos That Are Human, Not Corporate
Every business I work with wants their team to look approachable, professional and, crucially, authentic. Whether they're a new business growing their team, right through to a large corporate in the midst of a strategic rebrand.
They're also allergic to dated, cheesy corporate headshots: fixed grins, fake-looking lighting, an anaemic backdrop. The classic stock photo's heyday is over too - you know the one: an ethnically diverse group of attractive professionals laughing over a laptop in a sunlit office.
People can easily spot photos that look overly "corporate," cheesy, or - horror of horrors - AI-generated. That can be a problem, because if your photos look fake, people start to wonder what else might be.
Or, perhaps your existing photos are technically fine but a real hotchpotch - you can’t tell they belong to the same organisation.
In my opinion, there's no substitute for high-quality, consistent, human photography that shows your culture and the people who make your business what it is.
But if you've ever tried to organise professional headshots, you know it’s challenging. Coordinating busy schedules, encouraging reluctant employees, wondering if the cost will be worth it - and potentially ending up with cheesy, dated looking photos no one wants to use.
That's why I work closely with you from the initial idea through to planning, supporting your (potentially nervous) people on the day, and delivering a set of images you'll get real value from.
Strategic team photography earns its keep. A single, well-planned session can produce individual headshots for LinkedIn, group portraits for your site, and candid collaboration shots for social media and recruitment marketing - all in one go.
What Are the Benefits of Team Photography
for Your Business?
Investing in professional team photography can support your business in many ways:
Quickly building trust & credibility
Organisations using authentic employee photos outperform ones with bland stock images or a mash-mash of old corporate headshots and phone selfies. Showing real people creates greater brand recognition and a more immediate connection. It reassures potential clients that you are a credible and trustworthy organisation - increasingly important in a world awash with machine-generated content.
Sharing your culture & values
People are curious about what your organisation is like to work with or for. Having a mix of modern headshots and candid photos can get this across in seconds with the right photos - essential when people may not pause to read your mission statement.
Attracting talent
The first place potential candidates go on your site is your team page - and they want to find something encouraging when they get there. When it comes to recruitment, studies have shown that job ads featuring actual team photos were rated significantly higher in organisational trust and effectiveness by applicants, compared to ads using models or no photos at all.
Creating content for many channels
A well-planned photoshoot can produce visual assets that are consistent and recognisable across all of the channels you use - your website, LinkedIn, pitch decks, PR and media, printed materials and internal corporate communications.
Bringing people together
Taking staff headshots is a fantastic opportunity to bring people together - sometimes a rare chance for people from different departments to mingle and learn about each other. Investing in natural, high quality photography of your people demonstrates that you value and celebrate what they contribute.

Employee branding agency, The Truthworks
From So-So to Stand Out Team Photos
The businesses I work with want authentic, fresh and polished images that show their people in the best light. Here’s what to look out for:
Real moments vs forced poses
There’s an art to capturing your people in a way that looks authentic, and this is the job of a good photographer. Overly staged photos that feel fake can really put people off. Your people (probably) aren’t actors or models, so we create opportunities for people to act and interact naturally and capture the action. These images are what reflect your culture and create a sense of connection.
Professional & flattering lighting
…and framing, colour correction, editing and retouching. I work with natural light that makes images look modern and authentic, but also to flatter the person in them, convey their professionalism and give them a confidence boost. I’ll be making sure there are no unflattering shadows, artificial looking light, and removing the odd blemish if need be.
Strategic storytelling
Whether it’s a set of fresh headshots for your executive team or candid photos showing teams collaborating - we’ll work together to define the story underpinning it all. We'll work with your brand values and guidelines (however formal or informal) to design a successful photoshoot that brings the vision to life. Through colour, composition, the activities people are doing, the energy that people convey to the camera - the photos will be distinct to your organisation.
A well-organised project process
A properly planned photoshoot with a detailed schedule and guidance for your whole team means people will spent minutes in front of the camera, not hours away from their desk. I know how busy people are and aim to create a seamless experience that surpasses their expectations and creates support for future sessions!
Deliverables designed for all channels
I’ll work with you to understand how the images will be used - a hero image for your front page, a LinkedIn banner, headshots for the About page. You’ll receive images in an attractive online gallery, in the formats you need - from high resolution files for print, web-optimised versions for your site and social media crops in the right aspect ratios.
At the end you will have a polished, versatile image library to use across all of your communications.
